Usage Note 14900: SAS Services Application Windows service should have dependency on
metadata server
The SAS Services Application can be installed as a Windows service
using the instructions found in
http://support.sas.com/onlinedoc/913/docMainpage.jsp?_topic=biwaag.hlp/ag_ps_windows_serv.htm
These instructions fail to place a dependency on this service for the
SAS Metadata Server service. This dependency can result in the
SAS Services Application service failing to start if Windows attempts
to start it before the SAS Metadata Service service is running.
To add dependencies in the SAS Services Application service, add the
following to the wrapper.conf file found in c:\SAS\plan_name\Lev1\web\
Deployments\RemoteServices\WEB-INF\conf\wrapper.conf:
# Service Dependency
wrapper.ntservice.dependency.1=service_name
For example:
# Service Dependency
wrapper.ntservice.dependency.1=SAS Lev1 MS - BIArchitecture
It would be wise to set a similar dependency in your Web Application
Server Service to wait for the SAS Services Application.
