If you are unable to remove SAS using Start>Settings>Control Panel>
Add/Remove Programs, follow these instructions for manually removing
SAS 9.1 Foundation.

If you have any Business Intelligence (BI) products installed, make sure
that you uninstall these by using Start>Settings>Control Panel>
Add/Remove Programs.

1. Reboot, restart your PC, and close all applications, including
   anti-virus, -adware, and -spyware programs.
2. From C:\Program Files\SAS, remove the SAS folders.
3. Remove the SAS registry keys:
   a. Select Start>Run, type regedit, and select OK.
   b. Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Softwarer, right-click SAS Institute
      Inc., and select delete.
   c. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>SAS Institute Inc., right-click
      Common Data, and select delete.

Note: The items in steps d through i might not exist.

  d. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>Windows (or Windows
     NT)>Current Version.
  e. Select SharedDLLs.
  f. Expand the 'Name' column so that you can see the full path.
  g. Scroll down about a page and a half.
  h. Look for a group of files that start with
     C:\Program Files\SAS Institute\Shared Files\
  i. If those files exist, select the 20 or so files and delete them.
  j. Highlight My Computer\HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\SAS Institute
     Inc.\The SAS System\9.1 Highlight, right click, and select Delete.
4. Reboot and restart your PC.
5. Log in as the administrator.
6. Close all applications, especially anti-virus, -adware, and -spyware
   programs.
7. Install SAS.

Warning: Always back up your registry before you make any registry
changes. For assistance, see Windows Help, Microsoft documentation,
or the Microsoft Windows Web site. SAS is not responsible when
you edit the Windows registry: changes in the Windows registry
can render your system unusable and will require that you reinstall
the operating system.

A good rule of thumb when you uninstall the SAS BI pieces is to
uninstall them backwards from your initial installation. For example:
The Configuration Wizard would be the first product you uninstal,
because itwas the last to be installed. If you are not sure of the order
that the installation was performed, pretend like you are doing an
installation and make a note of the order of the products.

Warning: It is very important that you do not uninstall the SAS Private
JRE until the very end. Uninstalling this first can prevent the
uninstall from working.
