When you submit any procedure on any data, "Read access violation" error
messages might appear in the SAS log.

The problem occurs when the Enhanced Editor is corrupted and the parser
is not working correctly to parse the SAS code. If you can run the same
procedure on the same data in Program Editor successfully, then the
problem lies in the Enhanced Editor.

To resolve the problem reinstall the Enhanced Editor:

For Release 8 (TSLEVEL 2M0), the Enhanced Editor is located on the SAS
Shared Components CD in this path:

    Bundles\eeditor\setup.exe

If you do not have access to the SAS Release 8.2 (TS2M0) CD's, then you
can download the Enhanced Editor install files from our Web site:
1. Download the zip file from
   http://ftp.sas.com/techsup/download/pc/ee30.zip
2. Open Windows Explorer or My Computer, and go to the folder
   containing the zip file.
3. Unzip the files into a new empty directory.
4. Go to the new directory and click on setup.exe to start the install.
5. Follow screen instructions.
