Usage Note 13078: Troubleshooting SAS Intelligence Servers (Part I)
The following is a list of objects, names, and locations, including
description and notes to help you troubleshoot your environment for
SAS Software Navigator, Configuration Wizard, Metadata Server, Object
Spawner, Workspace Server, Stored Process Server, and the Batch Server:
SAS Software Navigator:
ssnprefs.xml - C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\
Preferences about products installed on this machine
* Note the userid that performs the original SAS installation is
normally "Administrator".
Configuration Wizard:
a. configuration.properties - C:\SAS\<configdir>
File created by the Configuration Wizard using input supplied by
the installer. Refer to the "SAS(R) 9.1.3 Intelligence Platform:
Installation Guide" located at http://support.sas.com/
913administration for information on how to update the
environment's configuration settings when modifications are
made to this file.
b. configure_web.log - C:\SAS\<configdir>
Configuration Wizard Installation log. Review for errors during
configuration.
c. SAS_Configuration_Wizard_InstallLog.xml - C:\SAS\<configdir>
Log file containing information pertaining to building out the
mid-tier tier portion of the SAS Intelligence Environment.
d. Uninstall SAS Configuration Wizard.exe -
C:\SAS\<configdir>\UninstallerData
Removes services, files and folders created and starting during
the Configuration Wizard process. This executable calls
uninstall.bat.
e. uninstall.bat - C:\SAS\<configdir>\UninstallerData
Contains command to uninstall services like the Object Spawner,
Metadata Server and OLAP Server. CAUTION!!! Running this .bat file
will delete your Lev1 directory and all of its contents.
Metadata Server -
a. omaconfig.xml - C:\SAS\<configdir>\Lev1\SASMain
b. AdminUsers.txt - C:\SAS\<configdir>\Lev1\SASMain\MetadataServer
c. trustedUsers.txt - C:\SAS\<configdir>\Lev1\SASMain\MetadataServer
d. trustedPeers.xml - C:\SAS\<configdir>\Lev1\SASMain\MetadataServer
The metadata server must be restarted if these files are changed.
e. sasv9_MetadataServer.cfg -
C:\SAS\<configdir>\Lev1\SASMain\MetadataServer
This file calls sasv9.cfg in SASMain
f. MetadataServer#d#b#y.log -
C:\SAS\<configdir>\Lev1\SASMain\MetadataServer\logs
This file logs information about users connecting into the
metadata server. Refer to this file anytime a Client is unable to
access the metadata repository.
Object Spawner
a. OMRConfig.xml - C:\SAS\<configdir>\Lev1\SASMain\ObjectSpawner
Object Spawner's main configuration file. The object spawner
must be stopped and restarted to pick up changes to this file.
This file contains login credentials for the Trusted User and the
name of the metadata server machine.
b. objspawn.log - C:\SAS\<configdir>\Lev1\SASMain\ObjectSpawner\logs
Object Spawner log file. This file is overwritten each time that
the spawner is restarted. The Object Spawner log file is no longer
created by default. See #015992 for more details.
Workspace Server
a. sasv9.cfg - C:\SAS\<configdir>\Lev1\SASMain\
This file calls !sasroot\sasv9.cfg
b. *.log - C:\SAS\<configdir>\Lev1\SASMain\WorkspaceServer\logs
Workspace server logging is not enabled by default. Logging
should only be enabled through SMC, not directly in sasv9.cfg as
this file is used by the other Foundation Servers.
Stored Process Server
a. sasv9_StorProcSrv.cfg -
C:\SAS\<configdir>\Lev1\SASMain\StoredProcessServer
This file calls sasv9.cfg in SASApp
b. StoredProcessServer_%.log -
C:\SAS\<configdir>\Lev1\SASMain\StoredProcessServer\logs
A new log file is created for each session. Log parameters are
specified in the sasv9_StorProcSrv.cfg file.
Batch Server
a. sasv9.cfg - !sasroot (C:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1)
sasbatch.bat calls sas.bat which calls sas_internal.bat which
uses this configuration file.
b. *.log - C:\SAS\<configdir>\Lev1\SASMain\BatchServer\logs

Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
