Usage Note 13595: Registering Service Failed: Registering the service, SAS Lev1 MS -
BIArchitec, failed with a return code: 1073, Error Message: Standard
Message
When installing the Configuration Wizard, the following error messages
might appear:
Registering Service Failed
Registering the service, SAS Lev1 SS - BIArchitec, failed with a
return code: 1073, Error Message: Standard Message. OK
Registering the service, SAS Lev1 MS - BIArchitec, failed with a
return code: 1073, Error Message: Standard Message. OK
Registering the service, SAS Lev1 OL - BIArchitec, failed with a
return code: 1073, Error Message: Standard Message. OK
These error messages can appear because services were running when
uninstalling the Configuration Wizard and were left behind from the
previous installation. To remove the services perform the following
steps:
1. Select Start>Settings>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services
and stop any of the SAS Services that are running (SAS Lev1 **).
2. Select Start>Programs>SAS>SAS 9.1 Utilities>SAS Service
Configuration Utility to the SAS Service Configuration Utility
(SSCU), select the Remove tab, select the SAS Lev1 ** services,
and click on the Remove button.
To add the new SAS Services again, click on Start>Run, type cmd to
open a Command/DOS Prompt window, and type the following batch file
commands:
C:\SAS\xxx\Lev1\SASMain\MetadataServer> metadataserver.bat install
C:\SAS\xxx\Lev1\SASMain\ObjectSpawner> objectspawner.bat install
C:\SAS\xxx\Lev1\SASMain\ShareServer> shareserver.bat install
Note: \xxx\ is your Project Directory name.
To open a Command/DOS Prompt, click on Start>Run and type cmd.
If you go to the SSCU and select the Remove tab and there is nothing
displayed, make sure to try the pull-down selection, this can be
deceiving. If there is nothing listed there, reboot your machine and
check to see if the services are started properly.
If you still have problems starting the services, locate the logs from
the C:\SAS\*Project_name*\Lev1\SASMain directory. For example:
C:\SAS\EntBIServer\Lev1\SASMain
If you receive the same errors you started with, uninstall the services
again, reboot, uninstall the SAS Configuration Wizard, reboot,
reinstall the SAS Configuration Wizard, and perform the configuration
steps in instructions.html
