Usage Note 13547: PROC PRINT currently executing message appears if submit code with
autopop on and output waiting to display in the output window
If the Autopop feature is on, you submit PROC PRINT code that produces
output longer than a page, switch back to the Enhanced Editor, and press
the F3 key to submit more code, the following message might appear:
Enhanced Editor (title)
NOTE: PROC PRINT is currently executing. All subsequently submitted
statements will not begin executing until its completion.
The title of the Enhanced Editor window displays the note: PROC PRINT
running.
When the Autopop option is on, only one page is printed to the Output
window at a time. To scroll to the next page, make the Output window
the active window and press the PageDown key. Press the F3 key to skip
to the last page of output.
To change the Autopop option to off, do one of the following:
* From the SAS command box, type autopop off.
* Point and click method:
1. Click on the Output window to make it the active window.
2. Click on Tools>Options>Output.
3. Click on the Display tab.
4. Uncheck 'Pop to the front when new data is displayed'.
5. Click OK.
In cases where changing the Autopop option does not remedy the
problem, the SAS profile catalogs on your PC might be corrupted. The
profile catalog files are referenced continually during a SAS session
and can occasionally become corrupted. These files contain any
customizations that you have made to the SAS display--such as, but not
limited to, changing color, adding function key definitions, changing
the fonts, and increasing the recently used file list counter.
To remedy the problem, rename your existing profile catalogs in the
SASUSER directory and SAS creates new files with the default
settings at start-up. Keep in mind that all customizations to the
SAS display will be removed and the default settings restored.
To accomplish this do the following:
First, determine where your SASUSER files are located:
1. Open SAS.
2. In the SAS Explorer window, double-click on Libraries.
3. Right-click on SASUSER and choose Properties.
4. In SAS Version 8: Beside General Properties, click the down arrow.
Note the drive letter and directories that appear in the pull-down
window. (Skip step 5.)
5. In SAS 9 and above, make note of the drive letter and entire path
displayed under Levels.
Then, rename the SAS profile catalog files:
1. Exit all SAS sessions.
2. Through Windows Explorer, go to your SASUSER directory as determined
above.
3. Rename the the following files:
- profile.sas7bcat to profile.old
- profile2.sas7bcat to profile2.old
If a dialog box appears saying that the file will become unusable,
click OK.
4. Restart SAS.
