Usage Note 13469: -Djava.endorsed.dirs= Pop-up box might appear with message: "Windows
cannot find '-Djava.endorsed.drs='"
When you install Tomcat from the Third-Party Components Volume 2 CD, the
instructions for Tomcat tell you to use the set statement to specify
JAVA_HOME. In some cases this step does not work properly, producing the
following error message when you run startup from a command prompt in
the C:\Tomcat4.1\bin directory (c:\Tomcat4.1\bin>startup):
-Djava.endorsed.drs= Pop-up message:
Windows cannot find '-Djava.endorsed.drs='. Make sure you typed the
name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the
Start button, and then click Search.
When this error appears, the JAVA_HOME needs to be set to where the JDK
installation directory is located. For the SAS 9.1.3 it is
C:\j2sdk1.4.2_04. You would need to modify this accordingly to your
installation location. If it is not set, Tomcat 4.1.18 does not start.
In some cases it will be necessary to update the JAVA_HOME environment
variable from the Control Panel. To do this, perform the following:
1. Press Start>Settings>Control Panel>System>
2. On the Advanced tab, select the Environment Variables button.
3. Go to the System Variables, scroll down, and make sure you do not
already have an entry for Java_home.
4. If you do you can edit the existing one. If there is not one
listed, click on New and enter the following:
Variable Name: JAVA_HOME
Variable value: C:\j2sdk1.4.2_04
(or the version your using)
This message does not appear when you use the Tomcat through the SAS
installation through the SAS Software Navigator.
