Problem Note 12601: ODS PRINTER generates "out of memory" errors
In SAS® 9.2, ODS PRINTER has a memory leak which can result in various failures. To determine whether this is the problem on z/OS operating systems, verify that ODS PRINTER is being used in your SAS program to create PDF, PCL or PS output and view the job messages to see if all available memory has been used at the point of the failure. The more memory that is available, the more data that can be processed with ODS PRINTER. On other operating systems, possible error messages include:
ERROR: Out of memory.
ERROR: Fatal ODS error has occurred. Unable to continue processing this output destination.
ERROR: Output Delivery System failure detected. Aborted during the EXECUTION phase.
NOTE: The SAS System stopped processing this step because of errors.
ERROR: Fatal ODS error has occurred. Unable to continue processing this output destination.
Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue. This hot fix is for the third maintenance release of SAS 9.2 (TS2M3). Sites must have this level of SAS before installing the hot fix.

When using ODS PRINTER (PCL/PDF/PS) in SAS® 9.2, various failures can occur depending on where processing occurs when memory is exhausted. As a result, the amount of data that can be processed with SAS 9.2 is limited.
