Usage Note 12235: "Unable to establish a connection to the requested metadata server"
error message appears when connecting to Windows server
When you log into the SAS Management Console for the first time,
the following error message might appear:
Unable to establish a connection to the requested metadata server.
This message occurs even if you have already started the SAS metadata
server.
When you inspect the metadata server log, you see the following:
ERROR: Error authenticating user sasadm in function LogonUser.
Error 1385 (Logon failure: the user has not been granted the
requested logon type at this computer. ).
ERROR: Access denied.
NOTE: New client connection (2) rejected from server port 8561 for
user sasadm. Peer IP address and port are (ipaddress).
NOTE: User sasadm probably does not have the right to log on as a
batch job.
Note: The log is in \sas\<plan_name>\lev1\sasmain\metadataservers\logs.
To resolve the problem on XP and Windows 2000 server computers, do the
following:
1. Go to the Control Panel and select Administrative Tools.
2. Select Local Security Policy>User Rights Assignment.
3. Select the Logon as a Batch job and add the appropriate user IDs
or groups to the list.
4. Select Replace a Process Level Token and add the appropriate
user IDs or groups to the list.
