Problem Note 12352: When creating SAS data sets from Access file thru PROC SQL, SAS inserts
blanks before and after variable names being renamed
When creating a SAS data set from a Microsoft Access file using PROC
SQL, SAS inserts blanks before and after the variable names that
are being renamed.
This bug in SAS/Access to PC File Formats is under study.
The problem is caused by double quotation marks that that are used by
SAS portable code to quote aliases. Microsoft Jet provider does not
support the standard double quotation syntax and treats it as part of
the variable name.
