Usage Note 11854: "Could not initalize installation" error message when installing SAS 9.1
Foundation from install depot
When you install SAS 9.1 Foundation from an image of the installation
CDs that is stored on a computer (also known as an install depot), the
following error message might appear in an Install message box:
Could not initialize installation.
File size expected=822733, size returned=822784.
Cannot create a file when that file already exists.
This message indicates a problem with one of the files that is being
copied from the install depot to the computer. The "incorrect file
size" portion of this message indicates that a file was damaged when
downloaded. It is possible that the computer on which the install
depot resides sent the file and the computer on which SAS is being
installed damaged the file.
To resolve this issue, attempt another installation.
