In SAS 9.1, MDX Queries may use special characters such as parentheses,
')' or '(', divide by, '/', and multiplication signs, '*', when
specifying measures, dimension names, or level names.

If you use SQL Pass-Through to pass an MDX query to the OLAP Server and
the MDX query contains unbalanced parentheses, ')' or '(', or '/*' in a
measure, dimension, or level name, then you will receive the following
errors:

   ERROR 22-322: Syntax Error, expecting one of the following: a name,
      ;, ', ", ANSIMISS, AS, CROSS, EXCEPT, FULL, GROUP, HAVING, INNER,
      INTERSECT, JOIN, LEFT, NATURAL, NOMISS, ORDER, OUTER, RIGHT,
      UNION, WHERE.
   ERROR: 76-322: Syntax Error, statement will be ignored.

There is no circumvention other than to not use these characters in this
way for your measures, dimension and level names.
