Usage Note 10838: When updating the SAS 9 license, "ERROR: 180-322: Statement is
not valid or it is used out of proper order" error message appears
When you update the SAS 9 license, the following error message might
appear in the SAS log:

ERROR 180-322: Statement is not valid or it is used out of proper
order.
This error occurs when you open the sas9######.txt file in SAS and
submit it. (NOTE: ###### in the filename above represents unique
numbers for each site license.)
The update license process has changed in SAS 9. The sas9######.txt
file contains non-SAS code so it cannot be submitted from the SAS
editor.
To update the SAS 9 license, use the 'Renew SAS Software' menu item.
