WinNT Notes:
Microsoft Windows NT Workstation/Server 4.0 are supported in SAS
9 and SAS 9.1. Support ends with SAS 9.1--therefore no support in SAS
9.2 and beyond.
The published Microsoft date for workstation's end of life is
June 30, 2004. Current end of support date for server is January 1,
2005.
WinXP Home Edition Notes:
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition is not compatible with 9.x and will
not be practical with the 9.1 technology (security, domain
authentication, recovery, and so on) meaning that there would be
limitations and configuration challenges on Home Edition plus it will
not be included in the SAS validation process. We do not consider
Home Edition to be an enterprise or university issue because Microsoft
will not bulk license it.
Win64 Notes:
SAS 9.1.3 has been updated in September, 2005, to allow installation on
the Microsoft Windows x64 platform if it has been installed on machines
with AMD Opteron, Ahthlon 64, or Intel EM64T (Xeon) processors. It will
only run in 32-bit emulation mode because SAS is a 32-bit application.
Only the Foundation products are supported at this time.
64-bit mode support for Microsoft Windows X64 is due when SAS 9.2
ships.
See SAS Note #16568 for information on the distinctions between
Windows x64 and Windows 64-bit and how it relates to SAS.
