Problem Note 10379: Extraneous characters appear in RTF header
Extraneous RTF control characters might appear in the first column header in an RTF file created

- Under Tools => Options => View, "Hidden Text" is checked.
- Under Format => Reveal Formatting, "Show all formatting marks" in the lower right corner is checked.
To prevent the display of the control characters in Word 2003, do one of the following:
- Deselect the SHOW/HIDE button (reverse P).
- Deselect the "Hidden Text" box under the Tools => Options => View menu.
- Deselect the "Show all formatting marks" under the Format => Reveal Formatting
menu.
To prevent the display of the control characters in Word 2007:
- Click on the Office button.
- Select "Word Options" at the bottom of the screen.
- Under Display, ensure that "Hidden text" and "Show all formatting marks" options are deselected.
