Problem Note 1701: SYSPRINT value generates an error when assigned to a network printer
The following error might occur in the SAS log when a network printer is defined on the system:
ERROR: The setting of the SYSPRINT option to "\\xxxxxxx" will be ignored
because "\\xxxxxxx" is not the name of a currently installed printer.
The \\xxxxxxx is for the printer defined to the system.
This error might be caused by changes in SYSPRINT option syntax.
See your host companion for details of these changes.
Note that this option is case-sensitive, and the error might also occur under the following circumstances:
- Characters such as an equal sign (=), a
hyphen (-), or a period (.) appear in the printer definition. Other
nonalphanumeric characters might also cause the error.
- An alias is used instead of the exact printer name.
To correct the problem, enclose the non-aliased name of the printer definition in quotation marks using the correct case. For example:
OPTIONS SYSPRINT="\\xxxxxxx";
You may include this option statement in your AUTOEXEC.SAS file or in your SAS code.
