Your logging and collector software is the IMS Measurement Facility (IMF).

• Preferably, use one host for collecting data.

  If more than one host logs data, typically tapes of the logs are brought to a single host for consolidation. The data are pre-processed, by MXG, into a single database of staging data. IT Service Vision treats all data that MXG puts in this database as if the data had been written on one host.

• If you have massive amounts of data, you may not be able to collect the data on one host.

  If you have massive amounts of data, you may not be able to collect the data on one host for space or time reasons.

  In that case, you can process the data directly from the logs to the detail level of one or more PDBs, one time or more each day.
