Your logging software is whatever package you are using to log the data.
Your collector software probably has the same name (and may be the same package as) your logging software, but in this document your collector software is GENERIC.
FAX For example, the fax software logs and collects the data. But later in the documentation you will specify COLLECTR=GENERIC not COLLECTR=FAX.
