MESSAGE TYPE: WARNING
MESSAGE TEXT: Bypassing snmp get request for HP/OpenView and NetView string variable.
EXPLANATION: The HP OpenView portion of %CSPROCES is bypassing obtaining a value for an HP OpenView string variable because the macro global value CSHPOSTR was set to BYPASS. This means that all string variables of the HP OpenView tables processed in this %CSPROCES run will be blank unless the user supplies them somehow (see User Response below).
The partner message to CPE1924 is CPE1925 which states that an snmp get request is being issued to obtain the string variable value.
Obtaining string variable values at %CSPROCES time using snmp get requests (the default) significantly degrades %CSPROCES performance because a separate snmp get request is issued over the network by the HP OpenView snmpColDump command for each record in your input rawdata.
SYSTEM ACTION: IT Service Vision continues.
USER RESPONSE: Evaluate the impact of the absence of the string variable in your PDB. If it is not required, change its VARKEPT status to NO to save on disk space and processing time (see the dictionary utility macro %CPDDUTL for information on updating VARKEPT status or Manage Tables -> select tables -> right mouse button list variables -> select variables -> right mouse button Properties -> change "Kept in PDB to N" to update VARKEPT using the IT Service Vision interactive interface).
If the value of the string metric is critical to your processing but relatively static (such as configuration information), the issuing of a get request over the network for every record is significant wasted effort. If you are also having problems with CSPROCES running too long, consider post-processing the DETAIL data or writing a user exit to set the value using a user-constructed SAS format. See !sasroot/misc/cpe/cshpoxit for details.
If the string variable is important for the usability of your PDB and the length of time CSPROCES is running is not a problem, you can continue to use the default by not specifying a value for CSHPOSTR or blanking it out as follows:
%let CSHPOSTR=;
This will cause CSPROCES to get values for string variables for every rawdata record (slow, but it works). The default behavior is probably unacceptably slow for users with large networks or networks that are not available during CSPROCES run time. For those users, disabling the obtaining of values for string variables using snmp get requests at CSPROCES run time using:
%let CSHPOSTR=BYPASS;
and writing a user exit or post-processing step for DETAIL is probably the best route.
ISSUING MODULE(S): CSHPOCOL.SCL
NOTES:
This method of obtaining HP OpenView string variables in IT Service Vision will be replaced in a future release with a more efficient automatic retrieval of string variable values at %CSPROCES time (only one per host instead of one per record, so performance will be much better).
MESSAGE TYPE: WARNING

MESSAGE TEXT: Invalid BY list.
EXPLANATION: The BY list indicated in the message for the indicated table has one of the following problems:
1. HOUR and/or SHIFT appear on the left of the DATETIME variable in the BY list for the DETAIL level of the table. 2. At least one variable other than HOUR and/OR SHIFT appears to the right of the DATETIME variable in the BY list for the DETAIL level of the table.
This arrangement of BY list variables causes the calculation of DURATION of the intervals in the data to be incorrect.
SYSTEM ACTION: %CSPROCES, %CWPROCES stops.
USER RESPONSE: Correct BY list by ensuring that:
1. Neither HOUR nor SHIFT appear to the left of the DATETIME variable in the BY list for the DETAIL level of the table. 2. No variables other than HOUR and/or SHIFT appear to the right of the DATETIME variable in the BY list for the DETAIL level of the table.
ISSUING MODULE(S): CSPROCES.PROGRAM CWPROCEW.PROGRAM
NOTES: This is a temporary restriction in IT Service Vision. A future release will allow unrestricted ordering of the BY variables.
See help for CPE1926.
MESSAGE TYPE: ERROR
MESSAGE TEXT: Invalid BY list for HP OpenView and NetView data.
EXPLANATION: The BY variable with the indicated INFORMAT in the indicated BY list for the indicated table has one of the following problems:
1. MACHINE is not the first BY variable in the list. 2. DATETIME does not appear in the BY list. 3. The INFORMAT specified in the IT Service Vision dictionary for the indicated character BY variable is not $HEX. (for varying length octet strings) or $HEXn. (for fixed length octet strings, where "n" is the fixed length of the string).
SYSTEM ACTION: %CSPROCES, %CWPROCES stops.
USER RESPONSE: Correct BY list by ensuring that the above rules are followed.
ISSUING MODULE(S): CSHPOCOL.PROGRAM

MESSAGE TEXT: Invalid length for varying length octet string encountered in HP OpenView and Netview instance identifier.
EXPLANATION: IT Service Vision encountered invalid data for the length of a varying length octet string in the HP OpenView and NetView input data. Valid lengths are numbers greater than or equal to zero.
SYSTEM ACTION: %CSPROCES, %CWPROCES stops.
USER RESPONSE: Examine HP OpenView and NetView data and correct the invalid string length. Also ensure that IT Service Vision dictionary definitions for the BY variables are correct and unaltered (see Help for message CPE 1928 for more details).

SYSTEM ACTION: %CSPROCES or %CWPROCES stops.
USER RESPONSE: Examine HP OpenView and NetView data and correct the invalid instance id. Also ensure that IT Service Vision dictionary definitions for the BY variables are correct and unaltered (see Help for message CPE1928 and CPE1929 for more details).

MESSAGE TEXT: DURATION LT 30 seconds rounded to zero for metric _metric-name_ at datetime _MACHINE=_machine-name_.
EXPLANATION: The indicated observation (MACHINE, DATETIME) was reported by OpenView and NetView to have DURATION LT 30 seconds. This value will be rounded down to zero by %CSPROCES or %CWPROCES (all DURATION's are rounded to a minute boundary to account for timestamps in OpenView and NetView metrics in one table being slightly different (a few seconds apart). Rounding occurs when HP OpenView or NetView data collections for a group of metrics in a single table are started individually rather than with one "RESUME".
SYSTEM ACTION: %CSPROCES or %CWPROCES rounds DURATION to zero and continues.
USER RESPONSE: Assure you are not collecting OpenView and NetView in intervals of less than a minute (intervals of at least 5 minutes are preferable). Rounding of OpenView and NetView timestamps to whole minute boundarires will make the timestamps of only a minute or two be significantly affected by rounding error and may result in the misrepresentation of the data. It is generally not necessary for accuracy to collect data to be used for historical analysis at very short intervals.

MESSAGE TEXT: Invalid CHOICE for index variable _variable_ with interpretation NETADDRESS in posistion _nn_ of TABKEY=_table_key_ in table _tablenm_.
EXPLANATION: The indicated index variable has a IT Service Vision interpretation of NETADDRESS (MIB object type NetworkAddress) and thus must have "1" as the first number in the dotted-decimal notation for the network address (CHOICE 1 means IPADDRESS and is the only choice defined at this time for MIB object type NetworkAddress). The indicated Table Key (obtained from the OpenView and NetView metric file name) does not have "1" in the indicated position. For example, if the value of the variable is IP address 149.173.192.12 and it is type NETADDRESS, it must appear in the OpenView and NetView file name as "1.149.173.192.12".
SYSTEM ACTION: %CSPROCES or %CWPROCES prints the message and stops.
USER RESPONSE: Examine the file name of the indicated metric to assure it is in the proper format (1 followed by an IP address). If it is not, the IT Service Vision interpretation for the index variable should not be NETADDRESS. If the value is a simple IP address, the interpretation should be IPADRESS instead of NETADDRESS (IPADDRESS consists solely of an IP address without the leading 1).

MESSAGE TEXT: INTERPRET=D2RATE works for all %CSPROCES and %CWPROCES collectors. Use INTERPRET=COUNT for variable _varnm_ in table _table_ for collector _collector_.
EXPLANATION: IT Service Vision does D2RATE (Delta To Rate) conversions for all %CSPROCES and %CWPROCES. The closest supported interpretation to D2RATE is COUNT, which retains the actual count value in DETAIL (does not convert it to a rate) but will convert it to a rate-per-second for reduction levels.
SYSTEM ACTION: %CSPROCES or %CWPROCES prints this message and stops.
USER RESPONSE: Change the dictionary definition of this variable to be something other than D2RATE (perhaps COUNT), or change your collector to gather another data type. MESSAGE TEXT: Daylight savings time expression is non-standard...
EXPLANATION: The indicated Daylight Savings Time expression associated with this PDB is not the standard expression.
SYSTEM ACTION: %CSPROCES or %CWPROCES prints this message and continues.
USER RESPONSE: If the daylight savings time expression associated with the PDB is correct, no further action is required. If this is not correct (perhaps because you created this PDB under an earlier release of IT Service Vision or under IT Service Vision), follow the instructions below to correct the PDB.
To examine the daylight savings time expression associated with the active PDB, follow this path:
Main menu -> Manage PDBs -> Properties -> Time Zone
The standard expression (which establishes DST as the period between the first Sunday in April and the last Sunday in October at 2:00 a.m.) is:
DHMS( MDY( 4, 8-WEEKDAY(MDY(4,7,YEAR(DATEPART(DATETIME)))), YEAR(DATEPART(DATETIME))), 3, 0, 0) LT DATETIME LT DHMS( MDY( 10, 32-WEEKDAY(MDY(10,31,YEAR(DATEPART(DATETIME)))), YEAR(DATEPART(DATETIME))), 2, 0, 0)
To change your PDB to include the standard expression, submit these statements at the SAS Program Editor window:
* Convert DSTime expression in a PDB to correct expression; %CPSTART( pdb=..., mode=batch, access=write ); data dictlib.cppdbopt; modify dictlib.cppdbopt; if cpdstime^="" then do; put "Was:" cpdstime; cpdstime="DHMS(MDY(4," "8-WEEKDAY(MDY(4,7," "YEAR(DATEPART(DATETIME))))," "YEAR(DATEPART(DATETIME))),3,0,0)" "LT DATETIME LT" "DHMS(MDY(10," "32-WEEKDAY(MDY(10,31," "YEAR(DATEPART(DATETIME))))," "YEAR(DATEPART(DATETIME))),2,0,0)"; put "Is now:" cpdstime; end; run;

All subsequent SITELIB access will be as if you requested read access. This is most likely (but not exclusively) due to RACF or ACF2 authorities under MVS, or permission rights under UNIX or Windows NT or OS/2.

The PDB has not been allocated with a disposition of OLD. Code disp=old on the %cpstart macro to indicated that you want to write into your pdb.
You have not added any tables to this dictionary and none have been specified in the %CMPROCES macro. You can add tables using the interactive interface, the DDUTL utility or by coding a list of tables as the second positional parameter to the %CMPROCES macro.
The dictionary search was looking for tables that need to have the views rebuilt and the search failed. There are undetermined problems in your dictionary. Call SAS Institute Technical Support and give them the exact message received.
You selected the ASUM70PR table and the TYPE70PR tables is used in building this table, but the TYPE70PR tables was not found in your supplied data dictionary. Check explore supplied tables to verify its existence.
A search for underlying tables for XRMFINT table is being done and these tables are not correctly flagged in the dictionary. A workaround is to select all those tables to be included in your PDB.
A dictionary search was being done for tables that are used in building the JOBS, PRINT and STEPS tables and they were not correctly indicated in the dictionary. A workaround for this would be to select all the tables that are needed to build this table.
This error occurs when the dictionary is searching for a list of variables for the indicated table that are not kept in the dictionary. These variables are not included in the WORK. table being built. This is a performance enhancement for large tables. It is triggered by the inclusion of an _K macro name in the format used by IT Service Vision to indicate which MXG macros to include. It also required a change to the IMAC... member to become effective. The source for this format is in PGMLIB.CPEMAIN.CMMXGLX.SOURCE. To correct a problem in the format, copy the source into the SAS program editor, correct the error and run the code to rebuild the format in PGMLIB.CPFMTS.
A severe error occurred during process and process is unable to continue. Information will be printed in the log that will help you or SAS Institute Technical Support diagnose the problem. Look in the log for a message prior to this one that indicates the source of the problem.
A return code greater than 4 was received from the %cpstart macro. Errors during start-up make it impossible for process to continue. Look for a message from the cpstart macro, fix the problem and rerun the process.
The parameter indicated has an invalid value. The invalid value is shown. Because the parameter does not have a valid value, the indicated operation was aborted.
