Select Web Application Initial Content

Choose the type and amount of content generated for you. To complete this panel of the WebApp Project Wizard:

  1. Choose whether you want to create New Content or an Example by selecting one of the radio buttons near the bottom of the panel.

Selecting New Content creates files that you must modify. Selecting Examples creates files that are a near-working demonstration of a feature although a small amount of modification, such as specifying passwords, may be necessary before the example is ready to run).

This selection determines the content of the Type of initial content list box.

The set of choices for the New Content and Examples lists is determined by the choice of Web application template and Web application options.

If you do not see an expected content type, it means that the Web application template, or more likely, the Web application option on which the content type depends was not selected for or included in the Web application. Web application options can be added after the project is created by selecting File [arrow] Web Application Properties command.

The Examples option should be used only during project creation of a new project; the files generated by the wizard could conflict with existing content if used in the later stages of development or with an existing project.

The Examples radio button can be disabled if, based on prior choices in the wizard, there are no examples available.

  2. Select the Type of initial content. Default values appear, if available, in the Name, Package, and Location fields.

If you do not want to create any initial content, such as when creating a project from an existing Web application, CTRL + click the current selection to deselect it, leaving no items selected.

  3. If you are creating initial content, modify the values in the Name, Package, and Location fields as necessary.

Selecting some content types disables some or all of the Name, Package, and Location fields. Entry of these items is delayed until later in the wizard.

  4. Click Next to continue.

For all content type selections in the default SAS AppDev Studio installation, one additional panel (at minimum) is added to the WebApp Project Wizard to complete the content selection process. In addition, some content type choices add files to the Web application or project and modify project properties.
