SAS AppDev Studio 3.0 Developer's Site

System Requirements

These are the minimum system requirements for the various install and deployment hosts for SAS AppDev Studio 3.0.

Development Environment

The minimum requirements for developing enterprise applications with SAS AppDev Studio include:

Operating System:	Windows XP Professional Windows 2000 Professional (Service Pack 1 or later) Windows NT 4.0 Workstation (Service Pack 6a or later)
SAS Software:	SAS 9.1 SAS Release 8.2
Hardware:	Pentium II processor 200MHz or faster VGA monitor minimum (SVGA recommended) CD-ROM drive 512 MB RAM minimum (1 GB recommended) 1.2 GB hard disk space

Deployment/Production Server Environment

Web Server/Application Server

Web Server:	Any Web server on any standard operating system that provides network access to the machine running your SAS server
Application Server/ Servlet Container:	See the Third-Party Support Page for the list of supported application servers / servlet containers for SAS AppDev Studio 3.1.4. (An application server or servlet container is required only when you use servlets or JSP files.)
Hardware:	50 MB available hard disk space

SAS Server

SAS Software:	SAS 9.1 SAS Release 8.2
Operating System:	All platforms/operating systems that are supported by SAS software
Hardware:	5 MB available hard disk space (in addition to the standard SAS footprint)
To deploy and run applications that you create with SAS AppDev Studio, you must apply server-side updates to SAS software. The necessary SAS updates are included on the SAS AppDev Studio installation media.

Client Environment

The end-user computing environment in the client tier requires the following minimum standards to run applications built with SAS AppDev Studio:

To View Applets

Operating System:	Any operating system that has a Web browser capable of supporting the required Java version
Web Browser:	Windows platforms: Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 (or higher) with Java Plugin 1.4.1 (minor release 02 or later) Other platforms: Any Web browser that supports the required levels of the Java Runtime Environment and JavaScript
Java Runtime Environment:	Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE) 1.4.1 (minor release 02 or later)

To Execute Java Applications

Operating System:	Any operating system that supports the required level of the Java Runtime Environment
Java Runtime Environment:	Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE) 1.4.1 (minor release 02 or later)

To View Servlets and JSP Pages

Operating System:	Any operating system that has a Web browser, including WAP-enabled devices
Web Browser:	Any Web browser that supports HTML 4.0 or higher. For desktop use, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5. Note that some TransformationBeans provide WML-compliant output that must be viewed using WAP-enabled devices.
