Estimating Disk Space Requirements :: Planning for Maintenance Releases and Product Upgrades for SAS(R) 9.2

When you apply the third maintenance release for SAS 9.2, SAS automatically performs some tasks that increase the disk space requirement for a SAS deployment:

backs up any file that will be modified during this update. For more information, see Creating and Removing Backup Files.
explodes the EAR files for the Web applications.

Four areas that might require additional disk space include the SAS Software Depot, SAS installation directories, SAS configuration directories, and space for the deployed SAS Web applications. The specific size increase depends on how SAS is deployed at your site.

Some of this increase in disk space is temporary because you can remove some files after applying a maintenance release. For more information, see Creating and Removing Backup Files.
