SAS Management Console

Product Release Number

After you apply the third maintenance release, the Deployment Summary lists the product release number for SAS Management Console as 9.2_M2. For more information, see About the Deployment Summary.

Scheduling Reports

After you have installed the second maintenance release for SAS 9.2, you cannot use SAS Management Console to deploy reports as jobs for scheduling. Schedules for reports must be created within SAS Web Report Studio. After a report has been deployed and scheduled using SAS Web Report Studio, you can use the Schedule Manager plug-in for SAS Management Console to reschedule the report.

New Functionality: Resource Template Changes for Netezza Servers and Libraries

In the second maintenance release for SAS 9.2, resource templates were added for Neoview and Netezza servers and libraries. In the third maintenance release for SAS 9.2, the Netezza resource templates were modified so that Netezza database names are specified on the library definition rather than the server definition. The differences between the server and library definitions for the two releases are as follows:
Differences between Server and Library Definitions
Maintenance Release
Server Definition
Library Definition
second maintenance release for SAS 9.2
one definition needed for each Netezza database on each Netezza database server
one definition needed for each Netezza database
third maintenance release for SAS 9.2
one definition needed for each Netezza database server
one definition needed for each Netezza database

Post-Configuration Steps for SAS Management Console

When These Post-Configuration Steps Are Required

Use the following table to determine what (if any) post-configuration steps you need to complete. To determine the product release number for SAS Management Console, see the deployment registry report that you generated before you applied the third maintenance release. For more information, see Determining the Product Release Numbers for Products at Your Site.
When Post-Configuration Steps Are Required
Update Scenario
Are Post-Configuration Steps Required?
You are applying the third maintenance release, the product release number for SAS Management Console is 9.2 or 9.2_M1, and you are using Netezza servers and libraries.
Yes
The 9.2 product release number indicates that you have not applied any maintenance releases for SAS 9.2 at your site. Maintenance releases are cumulative. Therefore, when you apply the third maintenance release, you will also receive the changes that were part of the second maintenance release for SAS 9.2.
The 9.2_M1 product release number indicates that you previously applied the second maintenance release for SAS 9.2 at your site. If you created any Netezza server definitions that use the resource templates from the second maintenance release for SAS 9.2, the Netezza database information remains in the definitions. However, the resource template for the third maintenance release for SAS 9.2 does not allow you to view or modify the database information on the server definition. Any existing database information on the Netezza server definitions will overwrite the database information that was specified in the Netezza library definitions.
If you created any definitions for Netezza servers or libraries, you must install hot fixes B04002 and C01001. Next, in order for the Netezza database name to be associated with the library definition, rather than the server definition, run the Upgrade Metadata action in SAS Management Console after installing the third maintenance release for the SAS 9.2 release.
If you are running SAS Management Console 9.2 or 9.2_M1, you must complete the post-configuration steps. For more information, see Redefine Netezza Servers and Libraries.

Redefine Netezza Servers and Libraries

  2. In SAS Management Console, open the Metadata Manager node on the Plug-ins tab.
  3. Select the active SAS Metadata Server.
  4. Select Upgrade Metadata from the File menu or the context menu.
