Syntax Description

w

specifies the width of the output field.

Default: 1
Range: 1-32767

Details

If ASCII is the native format, no conversion occurs.


Comparisons

  • On EBCDIC systems, $ASCIIw. converts EBCDIC character data to ASCIIw.

  • On all other systems, $ASCIIw. behaves like the $CHARw. format.
