Portal users who are authorized as group content administrators
can share portlets with a group of users. Content administrators for
the Public group can share portlets with the Public group, which includes
all portal users.
You can
share a new portlet when you create the portlet, or you can share
an existing portlet by editing its properties.
To share
a portlet, follow these steps:
-
If the
portlet already exists, then use one of the following methods to display
the Edit Portlet Properties page:
-
Navigate to the page that contains
the portlet that you want to share. If the portlet has an Edit Properties
icon
in the title bar, then click this icon.
-
Click
Search, and search for the portlet that you want to share.
For details about searching,
see Search for Content.
When the portlet appears
on the search results page, click the action menu
in the first column, and select
Edit.
If the
portlet does not yet exist, then create it.
For instructions, see Creating a New Portlet. On the Create a New Portlet
page, specify the location (group) as described in the next step.
-
On the
Create a New Portlet page or the Edit Portlet Properties page, specify
these fields:
Location (group)
Select the group of
users with which you want to share the portlet.
Move the following items to the specified share
location
This prompt appears
only if the portlet contains applications, links, or syndication channels
that you are authorized to share. These items are listed in the box
below the prompt.
If you want to share
all of the listed items with the selected group, click the check box.
-
Users
in the group will now be able to search for the portlet and add it
to their own portal pages.
Portlets
that are shared are labeled as such in the upper right corner. For
example, if a portlet is shared with a group called sales, then the
label
Shared: Sales appears in the portlet's
title bar.
Note: If you add
a link, application, or syndication to a collection portlet that you
have previously shared, the new item will not be shared unless you
explicitly share it.
