View a SAS Publication Channel

A publication channel is a channel that has been established using the SAS Publishing Framework and which can be used to publish information to users and applications.
To view content that has been published to a publication channel:
  1. Navigate to a portlet that contains the channel that you want to view. Publication channels are identified by the icon of a publication channel icon.
Note: Each portal user has a personal Publication Channel Subscriptions portlet. This portlet provides a convenient way to view content published to channels to which you have subscribed. If you do not have this portlet on one of your portal pages, then you can add the portlet. See Add a Publication Channel Subscriptions Portlet. You can also use the search tool to find the channel that you want to view.
  2. Click the name of the channel that you want to view.
The portal viewer displays the name of the channel and a list of packages that have been published to the channel.
  3. Click the name of the package that you want to view.
The package appears in the package viewer. The items that are contained in the package are listed in the left frame, and a description of the package is in the right frame. The icon next to each item indicates the content type. For an explanation of the icons, see What the Portal Contains.
  4. To view one of the items, click the name of the item.
The item appears in the viewer.
  5. From the viewer, you can take the following actions:
    • To create a bookmark for the publication channel and place it in your Bookmarks portlet, click Bookmark in the toolbar. For more information, see About Bookmarks.
    • To create an e-mail that contains the publication channel's URL address, click E-mail in the toolbar. For more information, see E-mail a Reference to Portal Content.
    • To return to the search results, click Search in the banner. To return to the portal page that was displayed most recently, click Portal Page in the banner. (For best results, always use these links instead of the browser's Back button.)
Note: You can also use e-mail or WebDAV to retrieve information that is published to a channel. To do so, you must specify the e-mail transport or the WebDAV transport in your subscriber profile.
