Setting Up SAS Metadata Servers

The metadata definitions on SAS Metadata Servers are used not only by SAS Enterprise Guide but also by other SAS applications. Using SAS Metadata Servers enables SAS Enterprise Guide users to access and share libraries and servers with other applications.
A SAS Metadata Server is installed by the SAS Deployment Wizard during the installation and configuration of SAS software. Use SAS Management Console to create repositories on the metadata server that will contain the SAS Enterprise Guide object definitions. For information about defining SAS Metadata Servers and repositories, see the SAS Intelligence Platform: System Administration Guide.
Note: The character encoding of the metadata server and the data sets that you use in SAS Enterprise Guide must be the same. If they do not match, reports that are produced from the data might contain errors.
