Enterprise-Wide Resource Management
Enterprise-Wide Resource Management Demo
Overview
This demo is one example of how to manage your Supply Chain using SAS Software. It is a
client-server application driven from your desktop and running at SAS Institute in Cary, NC.
The graphs and reports in the demo have not been saved but are calculated on demand. This
means that they change dynamically as the data used to calculate them change.
Enterprise-Wide Resource Management (EWRM) software coordinates scheduling and resource
allocation for a large number of multi-activity projects, and produces a master schedule
that completes all projects as soon as possible while using only the resources available.
EWRM enables resource substitution and tracks resource use, resource availability, and delays
due to resource shortages.
Business Problem
EWRM is a planning
tool for the management of resources in scheduling the maintenance of heavy machinery. It
provides guidance for answering these strategic questions:
- How should resources be efficiently allocated in order to perform
maintenance on the equipment ?
- What is the schedule for a given piece of equipment ?
- What if the arrival of a piece of machinery to the maintenance
facility gets delayed ? How does this affect the schedule and the allocation of resources?
It also provides information on identifying and resolving
bottlenecks in the system:
- Which maintenance activities get delayed ?
- What is the extent of the delay ?
- Which resource is responsible for the delay ?
- What is the average and total delay caused by this resource ?
- What other activities get delayed by this resource ?
- What if the availability of this resource is increased ? How does
this affect the schedule and the allocation of resources ?
Input
The following tabular and graphical drill-down views are
available:
- Arrival schedule of aircraft to the service facility giving arrival
id, arrival date and model of the aircraft
- Aircraft specifications for each model giving type of engine, number
of engines, passenger capacity etc.
- Network diagram of aircraft maintenance activities, precedence
constraints and resource requirements
You can also edit the following information:
- Arrival dates of each aircraft to the facility
- Availability levels for each of the different
engineer skill pools
Output
Available reports include:
- Maintenance schedule of aircraft giving the early, late, and resource
constrained schedules
- Resource schedule providing resource substitution information for
each activity and the schedule for every resource working on that activity
- Gantt chart views of the schedule
- Time-scaled Network diagram views of the schedule
- Resource usage and availability plots
- Resource delay pie charts and bar charts
User Interface
This demo requires Internet Explorer (version 5.0 or later).
