In order to write a SAS data set to a DBMS table and specify the
data type to use instead of the default DBMS data type when SAS
creates the table, you would need to use the DBTYPE= data set option
with the SAS ACCESS LIBNAME engine.

For example:

  libname mylib odbc dsn=xxx uid=xxx pwd=xxx preserve_tab_names=yes;
  data mylib.dept(dbtype=(sas_var='TINYINT'));
    set sasuser.old;
  run;

This will create a DBMS table called dept with a column called
sas_var having a column type of tinyint and default format of 4.0.
