How do I run SAS University Edition on Amazon Web Services Marketplace?

To run SAS University Edition on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace, you need to create an AWS account. SAS University Edition is eligible for the AWS Free Tier, which is available to new users of Amazon Web Services Marketplace.
  1. Sign in to your AWS Marketplace account. If you are new to AWS, you must create an account.
    Note When you create an account, you must provide credit card information to cover any AWS usage and storage charges.

  2. In the AWS Marketplace, open the page for SAS University Edition. Click Continue to Subscribe. Then click Accept Terms to complete your subscription.

  3. Add SAS University Edition to your list of software subscriptions:
    1. Click Continue to Configuration. On the Configure this software page, accept all the default settings.
    2. Click Continue to Launch. The Launch this software page appears.
    3. From the EC2 Instance Type drop-down list, accept the default value of t2.micro, which qualifies for the free tier. (If you select a different instance, you might incur AWS charges.)
    4. Under the Key Pair Settings heading, create a key pair, if you have not already.
    5. Click Launch. A message appears after AWS successfully deploys the software.

  4. To start SAS University Edition:
    1. On Your Software Subscription page, click View Instances. The Instances Detail window appears.
    2. Copy the instance ID for SAS University Edition. An example of an instance ID is i-d0w7a63b.
    3. Click Access Software for that instance of SAS University Edition. The instance must be running for you to access the software.
    4. When prompted, enter sasdemo as the user name. For the password, paste the instance ID.
    5. When the SAS University Edition Information Center opens, click Start SAS Studio.
