Usage Note 8533: How do I update the license on my SAS System 9 installation?
I have a personal installation. How can I update my SAS System 9
license?
To update your license
1. Select Programs>SAS>Renew SAS Software from the Start menu.
The Renew SAS Software dialog box appears.
2. Select Browse to select a SAS Installation Data file and select
Open. This action places a path to the file in the SAS
Installation Data File field.
3. Select Next.
4. Choose from available SETINITs.
5. Select Next.
6. The Folder where SAS was installed shows the current location for
the SAS System 9 installation. If your installation location is
different, click on Browse and select the correct directory
location.
7. The Folder for the SAS config file (sasv9.cfg) is by default
grayed out to match the folder location where SAS is installed.
If this location is different, uncheck the Same as above box.
Then click on Browse and select the correct directory location.
8. Select Renew. This will bring up a Pop-up box that shows "The
setinit was successfully applied".
I have a client installation. How can I update my SAS System 9 license?
In SAS System 9, the SAS Renew Software Tool is not available for a
SAS client installation. In SAS System 9, the only way to update the
SAS Installation Data is by an Administrator through the SAS
Administrator Wizard (SAW).
The Administrator performs the following steps:
1. Navigate to the Admin Client image on the server.
2. Navigate to the !sasroot\saw directory.
3. Run setup.exe.
4. Retrieve the SAS Installation Data from the Internet or from a
File that has been previously saved to disk.
I have a terminal server installation. How can I update my SAS System 9
license?
In SAS System 9, the SAS Renew Software Tool is not available for a
SAS terminal server installation. The only way to update the SAS
Installation Data is by an Administrator through the SAS Administrator
Wizard (SAW). The Administrator performs the following steps:
1. Navigate to the Admin image on the server.
2. Navigate to !sasroot\saw directory.
3. Run setup.exe.
4. Retrieve the SAS Installation Data from the Internet or
from a File that has been previously saved to disk.
How can I reach my Renew SAS Software tool if it is not available from
Start>Programs>SAS?
1. Navigate to <drive>program files\sasinstitute\sas\v9\core
\sasinst\renew.
2. Select sasrenew.exe.
Or
1. Place the Software Disk 1 CD in your CD-ROM drive.
2. Navigate to \sas\core\sasinst\renew.
3. Select sasrenew.exe.
