Installation Note 70411: SAS® Deployment Wizard fails during installation of SAS® Studio (Basic) on SAS® 9.4M7 or SAS® 9.4M8 on Microsoft Windows operating systems

SAS Deployment Wizard might fail during installation of SAS Studio (Basic) on Windows operating systems. Check the log in the location below:
C:\Program Files\SASHome\InstallMisc\InstallLogs\studio_wx6_install_<date-time>.log
Note: This is the default path, but your path might be different.
If the studio_wx6_install_<date-time>.log file shows the following error when the SAS Deployment Wizard is attempting to run a PowerShell script, then proceed to the workaround steps below:
Workaround
By default, in Windows, the PowerShell execution policy is set to Restricted. The execution policy for the User ID that is performing the deployment of SAS software must be set to Unrestricted in order to execute the required tcshim.ps1 script when installing SAS Studio (Basic). You can launch PowerShell and submit the command below to check your execution policy:
If your execution policy is Restricted, there are two ways to work around the issue:
- Install SAS® Studio (Single User) instead of SAS Studio (Basic). When SAS Deployment Wizard prompts for products to install, clear the SAS Studio Basic check box and select the SAS Studio (Single User) check box.
- Change your execution policy to Unrestricted as described in the Microsoft Powershell execution setting is overridden by a policy article and then attempt the installation again. After the installation is complete, you can reset the execution policy to Restricted.
