SAS^® Life Science Analytics Framework 5.4 and 5.4.1 were both stress-tested using the documented and supported browser clients to determine various client-side limits (lines, errors, warnings, and notes) for log and listing files.

Note that for both 5.4 and 5.4.1, the primary supported browser clients are Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox.

Here are the established log and listing file limits for the primary browser clients, Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome:

• Max log lines: 60,000 (both Edge and Chrome)
• Max listing lines: 100,000 (Edge) and 120,000 (Chrome)
• Max errors: 5,000 (both Edge and Chrome)
• Max warnings: 5,000 (Edge) and 6,000 (Chrome)
• Max notes: 8,000 (Edge) and 10,000 (Chrome)

Beyond these stated limits, behavior might be unpredictable and unexpected. Specifically, there is the potential for the following:

• slow response while working in the browser client UI, such as slow scrolling
• browser/client based Out of Memory errors, such as receiving an "Aw, Snap!" error in Chrome
• browser client sessions producing "Page unresponsive" messages
• browser client sessions being abruptly terminated and/or receiving the pop-up dialog message "Your session is no longer valid. Please sign in again."

In general, performance for displaying logs and switching between tabs also depends on the environment, specifically the CPU, available memory, browser cache size, and browser version.

As a final note, due to architectural differences between SAS Life Science Analytics Framework versions 5.4.x and 5.3.x, you might experience the unexpected behaviors listed above sooner while working in a 5.4.x browser client session as compared to 5.3.x browser client session.
