Problem Note 69571: SASĀ® Life Science Analytics Framework 5.4 - Concurrently executing jobs that access the same files produce database deadlocks that exhaust disk space
Deadlocks can occur within the database in SAS Life Science Analytics Framework 5.4 under the following conditions:
- Multiple jobs execute concurrently.
- Each of those concurrently executing jobs accesses the same database files.
Database deadlocks trigger Oracle to generate and write .trc files to the disk. The .trc files are extremely large. The large file size exhausts the database server disk space in some cases.
Note: the concurrently executing jobs complete successfully, which can mask that the database server has encountered disk-space issues.
This issue is addressed in SAS Life Science Analytics Framework 5.4 via an available patch; a permanent solution exists within SAS Life Science Analytics Framework 5.4.1. If you are currently using or are planning to migrate to instances of 5.4, you should consider moving to 5.4.1.
Alternatively, if you are unable to move to 5.4.1 at this time, you can contact your Hosting Tech Leads to discuss the process of requesting that the 5.4 patch be applied to your existing 5.4 instances.
The issue is addressed in SAS Life Science Analytics Framework 5.4.1.
