Problem Note 69497: The process flows for projects in SAS® Enterprise Guide® might run in a different order when you turn off the auto-arrange option
The process flows for projects in SAS Enterprise Guide might run in a different order if you complete the following steps:
- manually adjust the position of objects in the process flow
- turn off the auto-arrange option
For example, you might encounter this issue if you perform steps similar to the following:
- Create a new project and add the CARS data set into the process flow.
- Add a Query1 that has the CARS data set as the input and the QUERY_FOR_CARS data set as the output table.
- Add a Query2 that has the QUERY_FOR_CARS data set as the input and the QUERY_FOR_CARS_000 data set as the output.
- Add a Query3 that has the QUERY_FOR_CARS_000 data set as the input and the QUERY_FOR_CARS data set as the output.
- Next, turn off the Auto arrange option in the process flow and move all objects as shown below except for Query3. Leave Query3 above the other objects.
- Execute the process flow, as shown in the following image:

Note: Query3 is incorrectly executed before Query1 and Query2. As a result, the process flow ends with errors.
Workaround
To circumvent the problem, use one of the following workarounds:
- Move Query3 below all the other objects so that the process flow is executed in the correct order (Query1, Query2, and Query3), as shown in the following image:

- Alternately, you can create an ordered list from File ► New ► Ordered List, as shown in the image below:
