In response to the IBM announcement End of Life / End of Support Announcement: All Editions of IBM Platform LSF V9 Family, IBM Platform Analytics, IBM Spectrum LSF Suite for HPC 10.1.x, IBM Spectrum LSF Suite for Workgroups 10.1.x, SAS published a Platform Suite for SAS statement on the SAS^® 9.4 Support for Other Third-Party Software Products page that provided the following information: 

"SAS and IBM will continue to support Platform LSF 9.1 in Platform Suite for SAS 8.1 and 9.1 through April 2023. Although IBM has announced that they are dropping support for Platform LSF 9.1 on April 30, 2020, they have agreed to provide an additional three years of full Platform LSF 9.1 support for SAS customers. Per our two-level support policy, in order to fulfill our commitment to five years of support for these product releases, SAS plans to enable the independent upgrade of Platform Suite for SAS 8.1 and 9.1 to the current Platform Suite for SAS release. Older releases of Platform Suite for SAS will require an accompanying maintenance upgrade to SAS 9.4M7." 

The following Platform Suite for SAS and SAS^® Platform release versions are affected: 

• Platform Suite for SAS^® 8.1 delivered with SAS^® 9.4M2 (TS1M2) using LSF 9.1 
• Platform Suite for SAS^® 9.1 delivered with SAS^® 9.4M3 (TS1M3) and SAS^® 9.4M4 (TS1M4) using LSF 9.1.3 

The best course of action for the affected releases is to update systems running SAS Grid Manager for Platform or SAS Platform Suite for SAS to the SAS^® 9.4M7 (TS1M7) release or later. 

If that action is not taken, here are the instructions to independently upgrade Platform Suite for SAS to Version 12.1 on SAS 9.4M2, SAS 9.4M3, and SAS 9.4M4 on UNIX systems that are running SAS Grid Manager for Platform or Platform Suite for SAS:

1. Obtain Platform Suite for SAS 12.1 by placing an order for this SAS offering or by downloading it from the Downloads & Hot Fixes page. The Platform Suite for SAS 12.1 package is available under the product category SAS Grid Manager for Platform and under Platform Suite for SAS 12.1 in the A-Z list. For your target operating environment, download the files that are associated with IBM Spectrum LSF Process Manager V10.
    
2. Apply all SAS hot fixes that are associated with the SAS^® Platform release on which you are upgrading Platform Suite for SAS. 
   
   Note: The hot fix that is available in SAS Note 67449, "A security vulnerability in IBM Platform Process Manager affects Platform Suite for SAS^®," in addition to resolving the stated issue here, also includes the JAR files that are associated with Platform Suite for SAS 12.1. On the Hot Fix tab for that note, download the fixes for both SAS^® Management Console and SAS Middle Tier. Ensure that you download both fixes for the specific SAS release for your environment (either SAS 9.4M2, SAS 9.4M3, or SAS 9.4M4).
    
3. Install Platform Suite for SAS 12.1 by following the Installation Instructions for Platform Suite for SAS^® Version 12.1 for UNIX.  
   
   Note: Use the same location for LSF_TOP as the prior installation of IBM Spectrum LSF. 
    
4. Apply the SAS hot fix from SAS Note 63474, "IBM Spectrum LSF 9.1.1, 9.1.2, 9.1.3, 10.1.0.3, and 10.1.0.6 contain a security vulnerability." From the Hot Fix tab, download either the SAS Threaded Kernel Grid 9.4_M3 hot fix or the SAS Threaded Kernel Grid 9.4_M4 hot fix. Also, ensure that you download the appropriate patch for Platform LSF from the Downloads tab of this SAS Note.
    
5. If you are upgrading Platform Suite for SAS for use with SAS Grid Manager for Platform, obtain the following Platform Web Services patches from the Downloads & Hot Fixes page. Select SAS Grid Manager for Platform and then select Platform Suite for SAS 12.1. Download the appropriate file for your operating environment: 
   • For SAS Grid Manager for SAS 9.4M2, download the file for IBM Platform Web Services 9.1 (for SAS 9.4M2). 
   • For SAS Grid Manager for SAS 9.4M3 and SAS 9.4M4, download the file for IBM Platform Web Services 9.1.3 (for SAS 9.4M3 and M4). 
      
6. After you install the patch from step 5, take these steps: 
   1. Open the setenv.sh file in a text editor. The setenv.sh file is located in Lev1/Web/WebAppServer/SASServer14_1/bin/. 
   2. Add the following line to the bottom of the file: 
      
      LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$GUI_LIBDIR/linux-x86_64/" 
      
      Note: The path might need to change, depending on what UNIX version you are using. For example, lnx = linux-x86_64, and s64 = sparc-sol10-64. 
       
   3. Save the file and then restart SASServer14_1. 
   4. Repeat these substeps for horizontal nodes.
