Problem Note 67770: Creating a DATA step view that references an external file might result in a "Freeing Memory Not Allocated…" error

When you create a SAS® DATA step view to read an external file, an error that is similar to the following is written to the log:
ERROR: Freeing Memory Not Allocated Pool [000002294090FB00] Value [0000022941075740] WM Reb Pool:HOST
The view is created, but it is not correct and it fails to read the external file if used.
The sample code below illustrates this behavior:
data work.TESTV / view = work.TESTV ;
infile "C:\Temp\data.txt" delimiter = ',' DSD firstobs = 2 termstr = "|";
input name age height weight sex;
run;
infile "C:\Temp\data.txt" delimiter = ',' DSD firstobs = 2 termstr = "|";
input name age height weight sex;
run;
The external data.txt file that is referenced in the code contains this data:
name,age,height, weight,sex
fred,10,100,100,m
john,20,100,200,m
fred,10,100,100,m
john,20,100,200,m
The only workaround for this issue is not to use a view to read the external file.
