In SAS Visual Analytics, you can create custom objects by using the Save to Object pane option​​​​​. SAS Visual Analytics reports might become corrupted when you change drop-down list controls with parameters to a custom control.

For example, you encounter this issue when you complete steps similar to the following:

1. Create a custom button bar control called Button Bar1 that contains gray for the Background color and red for the Background selection color and save it in the Objects pane, as shown below:

2. In a new report, add a drop-down list and assign a category role.
3. Add a character parameter to the drop-down list.
4. Save the report and display it in SAS Report Viewer. It works as expected.
5. Edit the report and change the drop-down list to Button Bar1 (the custom one):

6. When you display the report in SAS Report Viewer, the following error might occur:

To circumvent this problem, you can remove the parameter from the drop-down list role before switching to the custom button bar.
