Usage Note 66323: A UNIX operating system can now read a Windows file without specifying the TERMSTR= option
When a new record is written to a file, UNIX operating systems write an end-of-record line feed (LF) character ('0A'x) whereas Microsoft Windows operating systems write a carriage return and line feed (CRLF) combination ('0D0A'x).
Prior to the SAS® 9.4 release, UNIX systems would correctly read Windows files only when the INFILE statement TERMSTR= option was specified with the value of CRLF.
As of SAS 9.4, the new default behavior for a UNIX system is that it reads the data correctly, regardless of whether the end-of-record character is an LF or CRLF character. The functionality of the TERMSTR= option is still preserved.
