Problem Note 64718: You see the message "The compute server session is in a failed state" in SAS® Studio V after you renew your SAS® Viya® license
After you apply a renewal license in SAS Viya for Linux or for Windows, steps in SAS® Viya® 3.4 Administration guide you on how to view both the SAS Programming Run-Time License Information and the SAS Cloud Analytic Services License Information.
This process of validation uses SAS Studio. After you open the URL for SAS Studio V, you see the message "The compute server session is in a failed state." If you open the URL for SAS Studio 4.x, you see the message "The launch of the server process failed due to a site validation problem."
These messages appear if you have applied a license that has already expired. The license application scripts (Ansible for Linux, and Batch for Windows) then do not validate the expiration date in the license file.
The resolution is to run the license application scripts again after ensuring that you have downloaded and applied valid license files. For more information, see SAS® Viya® 3.4 Administration: Licensing.
