You might encounter an unexpected C10 Fatal error (The element contains an invalid state code) after you validate a Suspicious Activity Report in XML (SARX) in SAS Anti-Money Laundering.

This error occurs after you select a valid US state code in the State field, but the report subject resides at an overseas military address.

The workaround is to edit the rc_sarx_validate.xsl file and modify the variable that is named 'us_state_codes' so that the field contains AA, AE, and AP values.
