Usage Note 61632: The "Conflicting data length..." error occurs when you use SAS/ACCESS® Interface to Teradata with Teradata 15.10 and 16 clients

When using SAS/ACCESS Interface to Teradata with newer versions of the Teradata client (15.10 version 03 and later) to read decimal data with FastExport, you can receive the following error:
Teradata connection: TPT FastExport: TPTAPI_INFRA: API306: Error: Conflicting data length for column(columnumber) - "columnname". Source column's data length is (8) Target column's data length is (16).
The problem occurs when you read decimal data that has length greater than 8 bytes. Earlier versions of the Teradata client did not report the error because they were less precise.
Newer versions of the Teradata client now report the error because the decimal value returned from newer versions of the Teradata client are higher precision.
To circumvent the problem, you must cast the decimal value as a float as shown below:
select cast("columname" as float)
