Problem Note 51852: "ERROR: Failed to update agent metadata in the SAS Metadata Server!" occurs when you are performing a metadata-server-based deployment
When you are performing a metadata-server-based deployment, the SAS® Deployment Manager might not be configured. The SAS® Deployment Wizard Configuration Failure dialog box might show the following error:
ERROR: Failed to update agent metadata in the SAS Metadata Server!
In the cfgwizard_configure_datetime.log, you might see the following:
ConfigAgentCredentials:execute() Agent could not be started!
: Failed to update GLOBALROOT in the SAS Metadata Server!
The failure occurs because the SAS Deployment Wizard is attempting to start the SAS Deployment Agent service. However, the SAS Deployment Agent service does not exist. The SAS Deployment Agent service is created during the installation phase. The failure occurs because, during the configuration phase, the SAS Deployment Wizard is attempting to start the SAS Deployment Agent service, which does not exist. If you removed the SAS Deployment Agent service manually or removed it using the SAS Deployment Manager and then you attempt to configure the software, you might get this error.
To correct this problem, do the following:
- Close the SAS Deployment Wizard.
- Run the SAS Deployment Manager by selecting Start ► Programs ► SAS ► SAS Deployment Manager.
- Select your language and click OK.
- In the Select SAS Deployment Manager Task dialog box, select Add SAS Deployment Agent Service and click Next.
- Click Start so that the SAS Deployment Manager will re-create the SAS Deployment Agent Service.
- Once that is completed, rerun the SAS Deployment Wizard to perform the configuration phase of your deployment.
