Beginning with SAS Information Delivery Portal 4.4, the SAS Trusted User account (typically, sastrust@saspw) is no longer the default Portal Administrator. Instead, the default Portal Administrator is the SAS Administrator account (typically, sasadm@saspw). The reason for this change is that Portal Administrator accounts are now required to be part of the SAS Administrators group in metadata. For technical reasons, the SAS Trusted User cannot be a member of this group.

As members of the SAS Administrators group, Portal Administrator accounts have broader permissions and access than they had previously. For more information about the SAS Administrators group, see About Adding Users to the SAS Administrators Group in the SAS 9.4 Intelligence Platform: System Administration Guide.

Here are a few suggested ways to manage this change after you upgrade to 4.4.

• If you have any regular users who are Portal Administrators, then add those users to the SAS Administrators group.
• If you have been using the SAS Trusted User as the Portal Administrator, then, instead, use the SAS Administrator account.
• If you do not want the Portal Administrator accounts to have access to the SAS Administrator account, then create a new user to act as Portal Administrator. Add the user to the SAS Administrators group and to the Portal ACT. Edit the properties of the Portal ACT to grant the user both ReadMetadata and WriteMetadata permissions as shown in the following display.

  Note: The Portal ACT still includes the SAS Trusted User on the Permission Pattern tab. You do not need to change this setting.
