Usage Note 42525: Cannot remove record from a hash object which has been locked by an iterator
A diagnostic message is issued when an iterator object is pointing into a hash object and an attempt to clear the hash object is requested. The command that attempts to clear it is below.
rc = myhash.clear();
The command above generates the following diagnostic message.
Cannot remove record from a hash object which has been
locked by an iterator.
The diagnostic message can be avoided by first deleting the iterator object
as shown below.
rc = myiter.delete();
rc = myhash.clear();
The message can also be avoided by reading/iterating through the end of the hash object. The code below would be used inside a DATA Step.
do while (rc=0);
rc = myiter.next();
end;
rc = myhash.clear();
