Usage Note 36950: Create an Enhanced Editor keyboard macro for deleting from the cursor to the end of the line
In the SAS® Enhanced Editor, you can use existing functionality to delete to the end of the line. Place the cursor on the character that you want to delete. Press Shift+End to extend the selection to the end of line, and then press the Delete or Backspace key.
Alternately, you can set up a SAS Enhanced Editor keyboard macro to define a key that will delete from the cursor to the end of the line. To set up this macro, follow the instructions below:
- In SAS, with an Enhanced Editor window active, open the Keyboard Macros dialog box for the editor by selecting Tools ► Keyboard Macros ► Macros.
- Click Create to open the Create Keyboard Macro dialog box.
- From the Categories drop-down list, select Selection.
- Under Commands, select Extend selection to end of line and click the right arrow button (>>) to add the command to the macro.
- Under Categories again, select Edit.
- Select the Delete current character command and click the right arrow button (>>) to add the command to the macro.
- Enter a name for the macro (for example, "Delete to end of line"). Click OK.
- You can assign a key combination to the command.
- Back in the Keyboard Macros dialog box, select the Delete to end of line command.
- Click Assign keys button.
- In the Press new shortcut key text box, enter a key combination (for example, Ctrl+E).
- Click Assign. Click OK to close the Assign Keys dialog box.
- Click Close to close the Keyboard Macros dialog box.
Now, test the way it works. In the editor, position your cursor on a line with some text and press Ctrl+E. All of the text to the end of the line is deleted.
