Business Knowledge Series course
This course teaches practical concepts in segmentation/clustering analysis and how to implement clustering techniques using SAS Enterprise Miner. It discusses what kind of business questions can be addressed through cluster analysis. Participants will learn how to prepare data and perform variable selection for segmentation. Distance measures and the k-means algorithm are introduced. The course also shows how to perform segment profiling as well as new data scoring using derived groupings. Hands-on examples and exercises are provided to reinforce ideas learned.
Learn how to
- use segmentation analysis in addressing business objectives
- identify and differentiate types and methods of clustering
- prepare data for segmentation
- choose variables (business-driven or statistical) for clustering
- interpret similarity measures
- use the k-means algorithm to implement segmentation analysis
- profile segments whether from statistical or predefined groupings
- score new data using derived clusters
Who should attend
Anyone who wants to learn or re-learn practical concepts in clustering/segmentation may attend. For those with SAS Enterprise Miner, this course will teach you how to apply segmentation principles using the software.
There are no prerequisites to this course, although some SAS experience would be helpful.
