SAS® Learning Conference 2021 - EMEA
This learning conference is for both new and experienced, SAS 9 or SAS Viya users, looking to develop their skills and gain exposure to new techniques. The content has been specially selected by our team to help you gain a practical knowledge of the latest topics in business intelligence, advanced programming, data management and analytics. The conference will run simultaneously across three live streams and all of the sessions will be available on-demand. There will be the opportunity for you to watch our keynote speakers and ask the presenters questions, as well as gain access to additional materials so that you can try out some of the techniques that you’ve seen in practice.
Learn how to
- Use DevOps to improve collaboration.
- Test and deploy in SAS Viya.
- Transition SAS programmers from SAS 9 to SAS Viya.
- Code productively in SAS Enterprise Guide 8.
- Create your own macro functions.
- Enhance your SAS Visual Analytics skills.
There are no formal prerequisites for the conference, with sessions designed to provide a high-level awareness for beginners while at the same time providing sufficient detail for intermediate and advanced users.
Keynote - ConnectivityGloria Miller (Founder of Maxmetrics GmbH) will talk about different aspects of connectivity. Stay tuned!
Software and Technology
Enhance Your SAS Visual Analytics SkillsWant to develop your SAS Visual Analytics skills beyond our foundational training? In this session with a SAS Viya focus, we share a range of useful tricks and advanced techniques collected from across our education and professional services teams.
Using DevOps to Improve Collaboration, Testing, and Deployment in SAS ViyaDevOps is much more than version control. In this session, we show you how you can use GIT and Jenkins to support best practice, improve collaboration, and automate the deployment of content into production.
Connecting Data in SAS Data Integration StudioIn this session, we investigate how SAS Data Integration Studio can bring multiple complex data sources together, providing accurate and timely data to users via easily understood processes.
Leveraging SAS Visual Analytics Reports Using SAS Add-In for Microsoft OfficeDid you know that you can open and interact with SAS Visual Analytics reports directly from your favorite Microsoft Office products? All you need is the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office and a few easy steps. If you are curious about using advanced analytics such as sentiment analysis, bubble plots, network analysis, maps, and more without leaving your Microsoft products, this is the session for you.
Using SAS Viya to Access Microsoft Azure Data Lake Storage and Database ServicesThis session provides an overview of how SAS database connections are configured in the Microsoft Azure cloud environment. We use SAS programs to demonstrate defining and using SAS libraries and caslibs that connect to database services in Azure.
Coding Productively in SAS Enterprise Guide 8It is no accident that SAS Enterprise Guide is the interface of choice for most SAS programmers. In this presentation, we examine some of the key features that enable coders to organize, write, debug, and reuse their code in Enterprise Guide.
Advanced Programming
Transitioning from SAS 9 to SAS ViyaWhat would a move to SAS Viya mean in practice? In this non-technical session, we clarify the differences between SAS 9 and SAS Viya. We provide answers to some of the most common questions customers raise and share practical considerations for anyone wanting to take this step.
Enhancing Your SAS Code with the DS2 ProcedureIn this session, we introduce the DS2 procedure, a SAS programming language included with Base SAS and SAS Viya and similar to the SAS DATA step. PROC DS2 offers you the advantages of parallel processing, improving the extensibility and reusability of code and providing access to a range of advanced data manipulation techniques. Learn the basic concepts and how to convert a simple SAS DATA step into a PROC DS2 program.
Go Beyond the Ordinary: Taking Full Advantage of SAS Cloud Analytic Services Using CASLIn this session, we walk you through common uses cases, from loading data to performing basic data exploration. Along the way, we cover executing parallel CAS actions, creating your own CAS actions, and more.
Calling Python Functions from SAS Using the FCMP ProcedureIn this session, you learn how to create a SAS function in SAS 9.4 that calls a Python function. This enables you to leverage your Python skills alongside SAS, make use of Python functionality that SAS might not have, and use previously created Python functions without having to rewrite them in SAS.
Working with REST APIs in SASA growing number of websites and applications include application programming interfaces (APIs) for cross-platform interoperability. This session includes a brief overview of REST API concepts and demonstrates some techniques for leveraging APIs in SAS.
Creating Your Own Macro FunctionsThe SAS macro facility includes a small number of built-in macro functions and autocall macros. Did you know you can quickly and easily create your own macro language functions? Tune in and learn how!
Practical Insights
Protecting the Value of Your Machine Learning InvestmentBuilding models is fundamental to machine learning, but a model alone rarely provides a return on investment. In this session, we introduce machine learning and explore why your SAS or open-source model is just one element within the analytics life cycle.
Practical Tips and Tricks for SAS Viya AdministratorsIn this session, we share tips and tricks for administering your SAS Viya environment. You learn how to identify and check important points, see tips for CAS monitoring, simplify recurring tasks, and compile important information for technical support--in short, the key information that you need to actively monitor and control the SAS Viya environment.
SAS 9.4 to SAS Viya: Snippets You Need to KnowIntroducing SAS Viya, the cloud-enabled in-memory analytics engine from SAS. See how easy it is to start using SAS Viya with SAS Studio and code snippets. Learn how to modify DATA step and SQL procedure code to become cloud enabled and gain insight into the most common cloud-enabled procedures.
An Introduction to ModelOpsAre you able to measure the value that your analytic models bring to your business? Creating models and deploying them require different skill sets. How can you provide overall model governance while bridging that gap? In this session, we explore how SAS supports ModelOps.
Importing SAS Enterprise Guide Projects or SAS Data Integration Studio Jobs to SAS ViyaExisting SAS Enterprise Guide projects can be imported into SAS Studio in the newer version of SAS Viya. This session identifies which common Enterprise Guide task nodes are part of the import process and discusses development involving the import of Data Integration Studio transformation nodes to leverage existing jobs in SAS Viya.
