Name (with Combinations)
Description

The Name (with Combinations) match definition generates match codes which can be used to cluster records containing names of individuals.

Max Length of Match Code 27 characters
Example 1 ID Data Cluster ID Score
1 Mary Shafer 0 100
2 Shaffer, Mary 0 100
3 Shaffer Mary 0 100
Names will match whether they consist of a given name followed by a family name or vice versa.

Example 2

4 John Elton 1 50
5 Elton John 1 100
6 Elton, John 1 50
4 John Elton 2 100
5 Elton John 2 50
6 Elton, John 2 100
Multiple clusters can be produced with different scores for the records.
Example 3 7 D Harrison Wood 3 20
8 Harrison Wood 3 100
As long as the family names match, a fully spelled given name matches a record with an initial followed by the fully spelled name.
Example 4 9 Martha Smith 7 100
10 Martha Smith-Wagner 7 80
10 Martha Smith-Wagner 8 100
11 Martha Wagner 8 100
13 Mike Smith-Wagner 11 100
14 Mike Wagner 11 100
As long as female given names match, compound family names match with either the 1st or 2nd family name. If the given name cannot be identified as female, only the 2nd family name is used for matching.
Example 5 15 Mrs. M Smith 12 100
16 Mrs M. Smith-Wagner 12 80
18 Mr. M Smith 12 100
16 Mrs M. Smith-Wagner 13 100
17 Mrs M. Wagner 13 100
19 Mr. M. Smith-Wagner 13 100
20 Mr M. Wagner 13 100
If a female prefix is provided, compound family names match with either the 1st or 2nd family name. If the male prefix is provided only the 2nd family name is used for matching.
