Making a QKB Active

After a QKB has been registered, you can make it active. When you make a QKB active, SAS Data Management Studio will use that QKB whenever it performs data management operations on your data.

After you specify a QKB as being active, it remains active until you unregister the QKB (remove the QKB from the Quality Knowledge Base folder on the Administration panel), or you make another QKB active. You can have only one active QKB at a time.

It is assumed that you have write permission to SAS Data Management Studio resource files. For more information, see Read and Write Access to the etc Folder. Perform the following steps to make a QKB active:

  1. Display the Administration riser.
  2. Expand the Quality Knowledge Bases folder. A list of registered QKBs displays.
  3. Click the QKB that you want to make active.
  4. Do one of the following to display the Make Active dialog:

Click the Make Active icon (gold star) in the Administration riser tool bar on the left.

Right-click the selected QKB on the left and select Make Active.

Click the Make Active icon in the properties panel tool bar on the right.

  5. In the Make Active dialog, select the option which will make this QKB active for you only or for all SAS Data Management Studio users on this host.
  6. Click OK.

NoteNote: If one user makes a QKB active for all users, that QKB does not become active for the other user’s applications until they restart SAS Data Management Studio.
